During the 2023 edition of Expoagro, Scania Argentina presented the new back-of-cab natural gas storage system, which will allow to double the autonomy in the CNG vehicles of the Green Efficiency line. With this addition, a 6×2 truck can reach a range of 790 km, while a 4×2 can travel 900 km.
This new product, manufactured by Hexagon Agility, is made up of four ultra-light carbon fiber composite cylinders (Type 4) with a storage capacity of 200m3. For its installation, the system is incorporated behind the cab of the truck and there is the possibility of installing it both in new vehicles, as well as in those that have been previously purchased, in order to travel longer distances promoting sustainable mobility.

The new back-of-cab system for CNG vehicles is one more step on the path towards sustainable mobility and motivates us to continue promoting this change by offering excellent services and units for our customers,” said Oscar Jaern, CEO of Scania Argentina.
Additionally, the brand presented the first case of industrial engines powered by biomethane for energy generation, installed in the San Lino de Chivilcoy ranch, where this biofuel obtained from organic matter allows CO2 emissions to be reduced by up to 90%. This is added to the reduction of other emissions regulated by Euro standards in Green Efficiency products: NO2 by 100%, NOx by 80%, PM (suspended particles) by 96% and SO2 (sulfur dioxide) by 100%.
