The Urban Logistics Operational Management of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires carried out a study to evaluate the operation of a CNG-powered public waste collection service truck, with the objective of move towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly freight transportation.
The biomethane from Del Rio Dairy in Texas, which start flowing in June to the transportation market, now is generating D3 renewable identification numbers (RINs) credits under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Renewable Fuel Standard, as well as credits through Oregon’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program.
The Spanish gas association launched an information campaign that advocates promoting the transition of vehicles towards CNG as an efficient, profitable and sustainable mobility alternative. This initiative aims to contribute to the decarbonization of transportation. At the end of 2022, there were around 35,000 vehicles powered by CNG in Spain
Naturgy has already signed the first long-term purchase contract for liquid biomethane. The agreement will entail the purchase of an annual production of 25 GWh of bio-LNG obtained at the Sologas waste recovery plant in As Somozas (La Coruña), whose entry into operation is scheduled for the end of 2023.
Spain and Portugal cut 500,000 tons of CO2 thanks to the use of (renewable) natural gas and H2 in transport
Biomethane (bioCNG and bioLNG) represents an immediate opportunity to decarbonize the growing fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and ships powered by natural gas, supported by the advanced development of the supply infrastructure. An exponential increase in biomethane production is expected to multiply by 10 in the next 2 years in Spain.
In line with the values of a sustainable sport such as cycling, the IVECO S-Way LNG truck carries out various steps towards decarbonization also during the Giro d’Italia, thanks to a mature and available technology such as biomethane, which allows achieve a reduction of emissions of up to 121%, as demonstrated by the study prepared by the CNR.
Europe has proven resilient in a turbulent period of multiple crises, which have each pushed the region to reimagine itself. Spurred by the invasion of Ukraine and the climate emergency, EU policy must evolve without neglecting climate ambitions. Meeting energy needs in this context will involve a mixture of new and existing technologies.
This is one more milestone in the roadmap with which the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) is working to achieve zero emissions targets for 2030 and a historic event for the entire port community of Valencia and the world port system. The RORO 4×4 tractor, part of the European project H2PORTS, has already undergone the first operational test.
There is a strong expansion in the use of alternative fuels -CNG, LNG, biogas/biomethane and hydrogen- where Peru is positioned as the fastest growing market in Latin America and one of the Top 3 in the world. Hand in hand with this trend, Lima will be the capital of clean fuels and the venue for AltFuels Peru 2023, on 20-22 April at Villa Complejo Ferial.
NGVAmerica and the CoRNG Coalition announced that 69% of all on-road fuel used in natural gas vehicles in calendar year 2022 was renewable natural gas, surpassing the previous year’s record-breaking level. Biomethane use as a transportation fuel grew 17% over 2021 volumes, up 218% from 2018 levels.
