Cargo and passenger transporter operators from Lima and Callao will be able to receive an economic benefit of between U$S10,000 and 15,000 per vehicle, thanks to the Bono Camisea GNV, which seeks to promote the renewal of the vehicle fleet with units that use natural gas. It is a non-reimbursable aid, that is, it is not a loan but a benefit that carriers will receive when buying natural gas vehicles, be it buses, trucks, tractor-trailers, compactors or mixers.
Pluspetrol’s External Affairs Manager, Janinne Delgado, pointed out that this initiative of the Camisea Consortium is intended to contribute to the widespread use of natural gas in the country, for which a fund of U$S33.5 million was created, announced by the consortium last year.
“This effort by the Camisea Consortium seeks to contribute to the objective of the National Energy Plan and the Government, which is to promote the widespread adoption of natural gas at the national level,” she said.
“The purpose of the fund of 33.5 million dollars contributed by the Camisea Consortium is to give an economic bonus of up to 15,000 dollars, which is non-refundable, that is, it is not a loan, but a benefit that is delivered so that transporters of cargo and urban transport can have vehicles with CNG,” he added.
The commercial management for the award of the rebates is in charge of Cálidda, and more than 3,000 new buses, trucks or tractor-trailers are expected to be added to the Bono Camisea GNV in the next three years.
