Taxis Libres, the app that connects taxi drivers and passengers who want to travel safely in the Colombian territory, wants to convert 100% of its fleet (more than 18,000 vehicles) to run on natural gas. For this, it signed a strategic alliance with Vanti, which consists of granting up to USD 290 in benefits to the drivers who decide to transition to this clean energy.
The benefits include: doing the CNG kit installation for a value starting on $300,000, with a saving of $700,000 on the commercial value; get eight months of free taxi ride or 10 free months of Taxis Libres App Driver; and receive the installation of a panic button connected 24/7 with the Free Taxis center and the National Police that will help alert the authorities in the case of any eventuality.
Vehicles affiliated with Taxis Libres, Radio Taxi Aeropuerto, Telecoper and Súper Taxi can access these benefits.
“Natural gas for vehicles is one of the cleanest alternative fuels currently available and its adoption is ideal for the energy transition that we are seeking as a country,” said Stefanía Hernández, Manager of Taxis Libres, adding that, from now on, it will be more common for citizens to personalize their trips and request an ecotaxi (CNG-powered) through the Taxis Libres app.
Of the current fleet of Taxis Libres, 67% runs on natural gas, with which the company has already managed to cut 88% of CO2 emissions and thus contribute to health care by reducing lung and heart diseases.
