The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) of Peru announced that it managed to exceed the goal of 100,000 vehicle conversions to natural gas carried out through the NGV Savings program and with financing from the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE). This initiative “has allowed many small business owners in the transportation sector to be financed, generating a direct benefit for them and their families,” they stated.
The General Director of Hydrocarbons of Minem Luis García Cornejo stated that natural gas is a “Peruvian product and deserves to be available to the entire country.” “Currently, the NGV Savings Program is present in nine regions of Peru and plans to expand to more,” he said.
The ceremony announcing the new milestone was also attended by the 100,000th user Raúl Aguirre, who celebrated this initiative carried out by Minem, through FISE, and invited more drivers to access the benefits of natural gas for vehicles.
“Before, I used to fill my vehicle with 60 or 70 soles a day, now with 30 soles is enough for me to work. That’s where you see the savings for your pocket,” highlighted the driver.
