Biomethane was the real winner of the Italian Green Endurance Economy Run Championship in Treviso, where Nicola Ventura of Ecomotori Racing Team, assisted by the navigator Monica Porta, achieved excellent results with a Renault E-Tech Hybrid equipped with a Autogas Italia’s CNG system developed by Ecomotive Solutions.
Without any pre-tactics Ecomotive and Autogas Italia had declared before the race that the goal would be to improve the 2021 record (47 km/kg) by aiming to overcome the 50 km/kg barrier, and the two races organized by Aci Sport presented themselves as the perfect bench to try to achieve this goal.
The Italian Green Endurance Economy Run Championship is a consumption race open to traffic with a minimum average set to be respected. The sector regulation provides for a minimum of 45 km/h which is already a high average if you consider that the average speed of traffic in Italy is less than 30 km/h but in Treviso the minimum averages is between 46 and 48 km/h.
However, to win the overall ranking, consumption is not enough. Drivers must also try to win extra points that are assigned to those who travel the sector in the shortest time, which translated means that to win they have to travel in traffic (including Sunday cyclists) to over 50 km/h, and that may not be enough.
The secret is therefore extreme efficiency in consumption but at the same time a high average which is the antithesis of low consumption. In this regard, Ecomotori worked with their partners to demonstrate on the road that the evolution of technology applied to the consumption is capable of returning great results in favor of the environment.
The first race of the weekend saw the car starting from Monastier and heading towards Palmanova for the first stamp check of the day. From there, it continued towards the village of Portobuffolè for the closure of the first sector. The race then continued towards Borso del Grappa for the second stamp check and ended with the return to Monastier for the analysis of consumption. The verdict for the Clio Hybrid + biomethane was a consumption of just 5.37 kg to travel 305 km at an average of 56.8 km/h.
The second race departed from Monastier with the first stamp control in Luvigliano, to close the sector in Castelfranco Veneto. The second part of the race included a stamp check in Cison di Valmarino and then in Porto Santa Margherita to conclude again in Monastier. Despite a slight deterioration, the result was record-breaking again: the Clio Hybrid + biomethane consumed 5.94 kg of biomethane at an average of 57.8 km/h.
