Gasnam announced the winners of the Neutral Transport Entrepreneurship and Innovation Awards, which will be presented during the Green Gas Mobility Summit in La Nave (Madrid). The objective is to recognize, support and give visibility to the most innovative startups and projects with the greatest growth potential in the value chain of renewable gases, from production and distribution to use in transport.
In this first edition, the winners are: Madrid City Council, which received the Neutral Transport Award for Innovation in the biomethane value chain; Indox and H2Green, which received the award for Innovation in the hydrogen value chain; Sunrgyze, which got the Entrepreneurship Award for the best startup for the production and/or distribution of renewable gases; and Evarm, which received the Entrepreneurship Award for the best startup for Sustainable Transport with renewable gases.
City of Madrid. The award-winning project allows the 20 buses on the EMT C1 line to be powered by the biomethane produced at the Valdemingómez plant, offering service to 4.4 million passengers who will be able to enjoy a mode of emission-neutral transport. The City Council has been a pioneer in biomethane production in Spain and has the fourth largest production plant for this renewable gas in Europe.
Indox and H2Green. The demonstration project allows the production of green hydrogen for self-consumption at the Indox facilities and with the technology of the Spanish startup H2Green, dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of hydrogen production equipment using small and medium-sized proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology.
Sunrgyze. This startup leads a pioneering project with a technology (photoelectrocatalysis) that produces green hydrogen from water and solar energy. Its photoelectrochemical process to generate solar hydrogen is based on an integrated and modular device that does not require any other external energy source.
Evarm. This company designed the first transformed vehicle powered by green hydrogen, as a first step to scale production to industrial vehicles. Evarm developed a prototype in which the diesel propulsion system was modified to transform natural gas into hydrogen. The company plans to commercialize these hydrogen vehicles from 2023.
