Minister of the Egyptian Public Business Sector Mahmoud Esmat reviewed a model of a mass transit bus powered by natural gas according to the latest European standards, which was produced by El-Nasr Automotive Company, with which the Engineering Automotive Company recently merged. This came during his meeting with Mohamed Al-Saadawi, the executive director of Metallurgical Industries Holding Co., according to a statement by the ministry.
Esmat stressed the ministry’s interest towards expanding the production of environmentally-friendly vehicles, within the framework of the state’s keenness to localize the automobile industry and keep pace with the global development in this industry by abandoning traditional fossil fuels, reported Egyptian news website Sada El-Balad.
The vehicle is the first new product for Al Nasr Automotive Company, as part of the state’s trend towards switching to the use of clean energy, as it enjoys a high level of quality and luxury, and was produced in accordance with European emissions standards (Euro 6) and the approval of Swedish Company Scania International.
El-Nasr is an Egyptian state-owned company, affiliated with the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, one of the companies of the Ministry of Public Business Sector, working in the field of producing electric cars, established by decree from President Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1960.
