The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mining of the province of Córdoba, Eduardo Accastello, visited the Iveco plant in the city of Córdoba, where the new natural gas urban and interurban bus is being produced.
During the meeting with the Product Engineering & Plataforms Manager for Argentina Eduardo Vegas and the Plant mMnager of Iveco Córdoba Gabriel Gon Klubek, Accastello highlighted the importance of this vehicle “bringing together the concepts of environmental sustainability and inclusion,” since in addition to running on CNG, it is adapted for the transportation of wheelchairs.
“Governor Schiaretti asks us to promote what is being done in Córdoba, which is why it is very satisfying to know that this innovative technology for new urban and interurban transportation units is produced in this plant,” said the official.
Then, he pointed out that “the coordination of the Provincial Government, with the Municipalities and the private sector, will allow this natural gas bus to be present in the main cities of Córdoba.”
The Iveco Córdoba authorities, for their part, stated that the CNG truck platform used for the new bus makes it more resistant and with a performance similar to that of its diesel counterpart, in terms of capacity, load, and speed.
The new bus has a Euro 6 engine. In addition, with the six-cylinder option, the vehicle offers a range of 250 km, while with the nine-cylinder version it reaches 300 km. On the other hand, refueling time is between 17 and 25 minutes.
Finally, from the automotive terminal they indicated that this transition from diesel to natural gas generates a decrease in costs, for the same service, becoming a valuable option for transport business and operators.
