Global demand for CNG-powered vehicles is forecasted to register an increase at a stellar 10.9% CAGR from 2023 and 2033 while currently enjoying a revenue of US$ 110.5 billion. The global NGV market is thus expected to secure a valuation of US$ 312 billion by 2033-end, according to data provided by Fact.MR.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in cooperation with Blue Eyes (Omani company specialized in research and development), has unveiled the first truck that operates with a combined combustion technology of diesel and hydrogen within the Sultanate of Oman.
During the 2023 edition of Expoagro, Scania Argentina presented the new back-of-cab natural gas storage system, from Hexagon Agility, which will allow to double the autonomy in the CNG vehicles of the Green Efficiency line. With this addition, a 6×2 truck can reach a range of 790 km, while a 4×2 can travel 900 km.
The initiative is the result of a collaboration with The Alexander Group and Linde Forklifts, and another significant step on Tobermore’s decarbonization journey, which includes the replacement of 60 diesel forklifts. The new truck will undertake work on site while gathering essential data associated with carbon reduction and fuel efficiency.
The tractor is powered by biomethane and electric drives, and is able to operate for up to 12 hours. Compared to diesel analogues, it can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 100 tons a year. The first production batch consists of three units with different components. Serial production will use a combination of the solutions that show the best results over this year’s tests.
The equipment is designed to transport 1.0 ton of hydrogen on the US roads and more than 1.3 ton on EU roads, with a working pressure of 517 bar (7,500 psi). Calvera and Shell have been working together for more than two years on the engineering and technological development of this project, which will take its first steps in the US and Germany.

This redesigned Mobile Pipeline® enables the safe transport of almost half a million standard cubic feet of CNG or bio-CNG in a 40-foot module, allowing customers to deliver more gas with fewer trips, resulting in reduced operating costs.
Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) signed an agreement to launch a pilot project to develop a hydrogen fuel cell truck for mining logistics and transportation with Ashok Leyland and Ballard Power. The vehicle, scheduled to be launched in India in 2023, will weigh 55 tons, have three hydrogen tanks, and a 200-km working range.

The task of the centrifugal cryogenic pump on board a tanker is to transfer the LNG from the truck to the tank at the refueling station.
