The Cummins 15-liter hydrogen engines will be integrated in Versatile’s equipment to lead the decarbonization of the agriculture market. Hydrogen combustion engines provide a cost effective zero-carbon fueled solution for high load factor and high utilization applications, enabling a more-timely answer to reduce emissions without sacrificing productivity.
The demonstration project, called H2 SilverSTARS, will produce hydrogen from renewable natural gas and help fuel SunLine’s fleet of 17 hydrogen fuel cell buses. The technology uses a combustion free process, so that it produces fewer GHG emissions compared to a conventional steam methane reforming process.
