The mayor of Chiclana José María Román visited the new Redexis CNG refueling station, located on the premises of the transport company Belizón y Rodríguez, in the Pelagatos industrial estate. The facility, whose execution involved an investment of 190,000 euros, will supply natural gas to the urban bus fleet of the public service operator, the current owner of the filling station that operates privately.
The new CNG station is connected to the Redexis distribution network, which means 100% compatibility with the injection of biomethane, thus having the possibility of supplying this renewable and carbon-neutral energy in the future. In addition, the facility will have an estimated annual consumption of 1.9 GWh/year, which means a reduction in emissions of 29 tons of CO2 per year, thus achieving the decarbonization objectives.
“Within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and the effort to reduce emissions and improve air quality, thanks to investments with European funds, we are taking a very important step with private capital that will allow vehicles to considerably reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. The economic savings of natural gas compared to gasoline is around 50%,” said Román.
“It is up to all of us to work to reduce pollution on the planet, from countries to town halls and all citizens in general. And this CNG station, one of the 27 that Redexis has in Spain, is compatible with the biogas that is generated at the All Gas plant,” he added.
“This commitment to sustainability and the use of natural gas has been in the works for years. Thus, hand in hand with the Chiclana City Council, Redexis and Endesa, we have worked to launch this initiative, which seems small, but technologically and environmentally it is an important long-term commitment,” said the Manager of Belizón y Rodríguez, Nicolás Rodriguez.
Finally, the representative of Redexis, Pedro Santos, commented: “Redexis is involved in reducing CO2 and in everything related to sustainable mobility. I want to thank the Chiclana City Council and Belizón and Rodríguez for their collaboration at all times, because they have helped us a lot to launch this initiative.”
