Two new buses joined the fleet of Hicid (Hispano del Cid), a company that has just won the concession for the urban public transport service in the city of Vila-real, province of Castellón. These vehicles have a Scania N 280 UB4X2 chassis and Castrosua bodywork. It is the low-floor chassis for urban vehicles with two axles. They are equipped with a 9-liter, 5-cylinder, 280 hp Euro 6 natural gas engine that offers a torque of 1,350 Nm. They have a range of 500 kilometers.
The buses are 10.5 meters long, allowing optimal adaptation to urban environments with small turning radius and narrow streets. They have low access and a flat floor, which improves the accessibility of all passengers to the spacious interior of the vehicle, equipped with the maximum number of accessible seats without enhancements on the market.
These vehicles can run interchangeably with CNG or bio-CNG and generate low NOx and particulate emissions and 50% less noise. When running on biomethane, they offer a reduction of up to 90% in CO2 emissions.
The urban bus of Vila-real is known as “groguet” for its characteristic yellow color (groc is yellow in Valencian). The new vehicles will carry out routes for the renewed urban service of the city.
Hicid, belonging to the Grupo Autos Mediterráneo, acquired the buses through Rapalo, Scania’s official dealer in Castellón.
