The Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Mobility Francesc Dalmau and the Manager of the EMT (Municipal Transport Company) Palma Mateu Marcús presented four 18-meter buses powered by natural gas, the first articulated buses to arrive in Palma. This addition is part of the second phase of the renewal of the EMT Palma fleet.
Dalmau highlighted the advantages that the incorporation of these buses will have for the environment and the transport service. “This second purchase of vehicles is a very thoughtful acquisition. The fact of adding 18-meter vehicles allows us to increase the capacity of the vehicles by more than 30% and improve the frequency,” he said.
The new buses presented in the EMT Palma depot are four out of a total of 44 18-meter CNG articulated vehicles, with a Scania chassis and Castrosua bodywork, which will be arriving in the city and which have involved an investment of more than 17.9 million euros.
The second phase of the renewal of the EMT Palma fleet will make it possible to renew up to 165 vehicles, which represents more than 90% of the fleet. This phase also includes the arrival of four 8-meter CNG minibuses, five 12-meter hydrogen buses and 12 electric buses.
