Since 2012, UNICON, a company dedicated to the production of ready-mix concrete, responsible mining and other construction services, began the transition to CNG. Recently, it has decided to expand its fleet of green mixing vehicles with the purchase of new NGVs, increasing its total fleet to more than 150 units that run on clean energy.
With the incentive of US$ 200,000, through the Bono Camisea GNV, UNICON acquired 20 new natural gas mixer trucks. The operation was managed by Cálidda, which allowed the incorporation of the new fleet of CAMC trucks. With this delivery, the company totals 59 units benefiting from the Bono Camisea between 2022 and 2023, for a total of US$ 590,000.
The 20 CAMC mixers have four tanks and a total capacity of 215 m3 of natural gas, offering an autonomy of more than 16 hours of continuous work. Additionally, the company will reduce its fuel costs by 65%.
“We are excited to be part of this important milestone for the widespread use of CNG in the heavy transportation sector. These mixer trucks are a clear example of the savings that companies can achieve compared to the use of other fuels such as diesel,” said Martín Gutiérrez, Director of Large Clients at Cálidda.
Moreover, Paul Huayta, Manager of Equipment, Maintenance and Quarries at UNICON, commented: “Beyond the economic benefit, which in some cases has meant significant savings in transportation costs, we are interested in continuing to work from innovation and sustainability to reduce CO2 emissions and their impact on the environment. Therefore, with this acquisition, we have managed to increase 30%-35% our natural gas-powered fleet, and we want to reach 50% of the fleet renewed by 2024.”
