The Governor of Misiones Oscar Herrera Ahuad led in Posadas the delivery of the first natural gas vehicles that were acquired through the “Ahora Taxi” program. This is a provincial project through which the government subsidizes drivers up to 50% of the value of the brand-new car, with the aim of helping renew the local taxi fleet.
“It is a great moment for the municipality of Posadas. Accompanied by the province, through the Ahora Taxi program, we can complete the delivery of these cars that will come to strengthen the quality of the transport service. In the particular case of taxis, it is important to continue working with this program to continue providing a better quality of service to all those who use this type of transport,” said the Mayor of Posadas Leonardo Stelatto.
Moreover, the Commercial Manager of Auto Misión (Fiat dealership) Diego Wendel announced the delivery of more cars and commented that it is “an unprecedented program that helps renew units in one of the most vulnerable sectors of post- pandemic.” In addition, he anticipated that they hope to double the figure for the benefit of families in the province of Misiones.
The vehicles delivered to the first beneficiaries of the program are Fiat Cronos. The delivery includes the installation of the CNG equipment and the corresponding identifying paint. While the government subsidizes up to 50% of the value of these new cars, the rest of the payment can be financed through a loan from Banco Macro, with the possibility of paying it in up to 36 installments and a subsidized rate of 25% annual nominal.
Due to the pandemic and the consequent stoppage of activities, the timely renewal of the vehicles used for the taxi service had been hampered. Some of these vehicles were close to expiring their validity period to be authorized as taxis. The objective of the program is to facilitate renewal and is not intended to incorporate more vehicles. The municipalities that participate in the program are Posadas, Puerto Iguazú, Eldorado and Oberá.
