The Mayor of the city of Neuquén Mariano Gaido, together with the Governor Omar Gutiérrez, presented two new buses that join “COLE”, the city’s public transport system. These are two CNG-powered vehicles that complement the 180 units already circulating in the city.
“The city took one step further by saying we bet on the environment, we bet on sound, we bet on CNG, we are betting on modernizing a fleet permanently, we do not stop at the achievements, but we are going for more,” said Gaido.
“We are proud to have the COLE public transport service, which has increased by 50% since it began operating on February 1. The vehicles make 740 kilometers a day in their 30 routes,” he added.
Regarding the features of the new buses, Santiago Morán, Secretary of Mobility and Citizen Services, explained that they are characterized by running on natural gas, which allows “protecting the environment, taking care of climate change and reducing emissions and 50% of noise ,” in comparison with those that run on other fuels.
“A greener city is part of the Municipality’s program and, in the case of public transportation, we do it with these vehicles that we expect to add more over time,” he said.
Then he explained that the two new buses are low units that will be identified with COLE colors: one is blue and white from IVECO and the other is green, made by Scania. Both will be working on line 28.
For his part, the Governor of the province of Neuquén thanked “the municipality’s planning to incorporate tools to mitigate climate change.” He also stressed that “what should be used to avoid contaminating the environment is beginning to be incorporated as an input for transportation, to take care of it, to strengthen our identity, resilience, sustainability and sustainability.”
