Polk County (Florida) has awarded FCC Environmental Services, subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente in the United States, the renewal of the urban solid waste collection contract for the western part of the county. The renewal supposes a turnover of up to USD 155 million for a maximum of five years and three possible one-year extensions.
This service was one of the first FCC Environmental Services waste collection agreements in the country, awarded in December 2016, while the renewal will begin in September 2024.
For the new contract, which will serve 74,000 homes and more than 200,000 people, there will be an investment of USD 20 million and will incorporate a fleet of 38 latest-generation CNG waste collection vehicles and will develop a natural gas refueling station in its facilities.
“We appreciate the county’s trust and are very motivated to carry out the new investments that will result in an even more efficient and green service. FCC has been serving this county for six years and we still have another one to go from the present agreement, now and with this renewal award we will continue to serve Polk residents for up to nine more years in the future,” said Íñigo Sanz, CEO of FCC Environmental Services.
In the past 12 months, the company has signed contracts worth more than USD 2.1 billion and serves more than 11 million residents in the states of Florida, California, Texas, Iowa, and Nebraska.
