The Optimus, a long-term chartered LNG bunker vessel by Titan and owned by Elengir, has completed the first LNG bunkering operation of AIDANova, AIDA Cruises’ eco-friendly cruise ship. The Optimus has a capacity of 6,000m3 of LNG.
For its part, the AIDAnova is an Excellence class cruise ship operated by AIDA Cruises. She was built by Meyer Werft GmbH in Papenburg, Germany, and delivered in 2018, under contract with Carnival Corporation.
The operation was successfully carried out and it ran smoothly as planned. This was the first LNG bunker supply ever performed in the Port of Kiel.
“We are grateful for the constructive talks we have had with the Port Authorities of Kiel for the permit to allow Titan to execute LNG bunker deliveries in the Port of Kiel. This was the first LNG delivery of a series of bunkers that Titan will deliver to the AIDANova cruise vessel,” said Titan authorities on the company’s social media.
This operation was possible with the close cooperation between all parties. “We, therefore, would like to thank the crew of both vessels who did an excellent job, SEEHAFEN KIEL GmbH & Co. KG, TB Marine Shipmanagement (Riga) and Carnival Corporation for trusting us,” added Titan.
