Scania Argentina delivered a vehicle of the Green Efficiency Line to Logística Urbana SA (LUSA) to be tested for a month in waste collection in Córdoba. With great results, the urban cleaning provider tested a CNG-powered rear-loading P280 4×2 truck.
Responsible for the collection and transport service of urban solid waste in the southern area of the city of Córdoba, LUSA has a fleet of more than 70 trucks, of which 12 are Scania brand, incorporated in 2022. As of this pre-existing collaboration of the company with the Swedish manufacturer, a Demo Truck specially prepared for this type of service was tested. This mainly allowed to verify excellent results with respect to autonomy.
“We were interested in Scania’s proposal to test this CNG vehicle because it coincides with our company policy,” said Gustavo Monzón, General Manager of the group of which LUSA is a part, adding that being an environmental company, its objective is to turn towards a more sustainable way that seeks to improve the life quality of Córdoba citizens.
“One of the main advantages offered by the vehicles of the Green Efficiency line is the reduction of noise pollution, which represents a benefit both for the residents and for the drivers who operate the unit,” said Mariano Estrada, Manager of Central Region, Scania Argentina. He also indicated that the use of alternative fuels allows the reduction of polluting gas emissions, encouraging the change towards a more sustainable transport system.
In addition to its virtues regarding the environment, the use of natural gas as a fuel favors the use of the country’s energy matrix, which means savings of up to 40% in operating costs for transport companies.
