Nortegas put into operation a new CNG refueling point in Avilés, Asturias, the seventh within the strategic agreement signed with Repsol to promote the installation of CNG dispensers at the service stations of the multinational energy company. This new facility has the capacity to serve all types of vehicles -buses, delivery vans, cars and short and medium distance trucks- and will allow the expansion of public-access NGV refueling infrastructure.
The choice of this location responds to a strategic position in relation to the traffic density of the area and its proximity to logistics centers and industrial estates, as well as the urban core of the city. With this new opening, both companies consolidate their presence in the Principality of Asturias, together with the CNG station in Gijón, which represents a further step in the commitment to decarbonize mobility in the region.
Nortegas is committed to research and development of natural gas for vehicles as another environmentally friendly fuel option, as well as of other renewable gases that support the transition towards economic decarbonization.
“This alliance aims to continue promoting natural gas, a fuel that plays a key role in the decarbonization of mobility, making refueling points available that facilitate the transition to less polluting fuels. On the other hand, we continue to invest in the energy transition, applying the available technology to allow the supply of biomethane and green hydrogen when this is possible,” said Javier Contreras, CEO of Nortegas.
“This new CNG facility allows our customers to opt for a more environmentally friendly technology and helps us to continue positioning this ecological fuel as an alternative for mobility. In addition, Repsol reinforces its position as a multi-energy company, a leader in mobility and with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, being the first company in the sector to adopt this ambitious goal,” commented Sara Martín Cabrera, Head of NGV Business Development of Repsol.
