Within the framework of the Transport and Tourism Trade Union Congress at the Expofuturo Convention Center in the city of Pereira, Scania Colombia presented a new solution to achieve a more sustainable passenger transport system in the country: the first intercity bus with a 100% Euro 6 engine powered by CNG.
The K320 IB 4×2 natural gas bus, which belongs to Scania’s Green Efficiency line and has Marcopolo bodywork, will reduce operating costs by 40%, noise emissions by 50% and particulate matter by 96%, which will translate into better business profitability and better air quality for cities. It has a capacity of 1,050 liters of CNG to provide short, medium and long distance routes in the national territory and a Scania engine of 9.3 liters and 320 horsepower.
“At Scania we continue to expand our product portfolio, we lead change through sustainable solutions and efficient technology that reduces operating costs, making use of the technological development that characterizes us,” said Juan Carlos Ocampo, General Manager of Scania Colombia.
“We have natural gas vehicles operating in all segments of cargo and passenger transport. We have developed this product for intercity transport that adapts to the Colombian topography, reducing the level of noise and vibrations for greater comfort for users,” added Efraín Ospina, Commercial Manager of Scania Colombia.
