Iveco Argentina presented the 170G21 bus, which joins the Natural Power family. It is the first CNG bus manufactured in the country and was presented at an event held at the Iveco plant located in the province of Córdoba, within the framework of the Sustainable Mobility Week. The vehicle’s chassis will be entirely manufactured at the Córdoba facility.
“In 2019 we reached a milestone in Argentina with the launch of the Natural Power family. In 2020 we started with the national production of CNG Tector and today we position ourselves as the brand that is most committed to the commercialization of clean and sustainable solutions for our clients, with a portfolio of products that adjusts to each need,” said Santos Doncel Jones, President of Iveco Group Argentina.
With a 6-cylinder CNG FPT Industrial NEF engine and a capacity of 80 liters each cylinder, the 170G21 bus has a range of 250 km. It reaches a maximum power of 204 HP and has a torque of 760 Nm, achieving a maximum speed of 94 km/h. On the other hand, its silent motor reduces noise pollution and makes the bus ideal for night services. It has a capacity for 48 passengers, with great comfort. It is designed for short and medium-distance urban and interurban transport, a segment where the bus market in Argentina is currently concentrated.
“We do not have to give up power or profitability to protect the environment; the technology we use allows us to have the same performance as a diesel vehicle, lowering the operating cost and, therefore, offering greater profitability for carriers,” assured Francisco Spasaro, Commercial Director of Iveco for Argentina.
“At Iveco we are aware that the environment cannot wait, especially since the actions we take do not have an immediate effect. Today we are happy to celebrate Sustainable Mobility Week with a new product in the Natural Power family such as the 170G21, which helps us to continue working towards generating a positive impact in the communities of which we are a part”, added Spasaro.
The first CNG bus built in Argentina will also be an export product for Latin America. “By adding the 170G21 BUS to the Iveco product portfolio, we not only think about the local market, but we also set ourselves the goal of exporting it to countries such as Colombia, Chile, Peru, the Dominican Republic and other importers in Latin America. We know the needs of our customers in the region and that is why our expectations with this vehicle are high,” commented Danilo Fetzner, Commercial Director of Iveco Bus in Latin America.
