In the coming weeks, the Department of the Vice Presidency and of Digital Policies and Territory will put the first biomethane bus into circulation in Terres de l’Ebre. The vehicle will be supplied at the Biometagas La Galera plant, in Montsià, which generates biogas from agricultural, livestock and industrial waste in the area.
This is the first biogas-powered bus to be launched by the Government of Catalonia. In this way, the Department continues its commitment to connectivity and the decarbonization of the territory, promoting sustainability, the circular economy and the fight against climate change.
The vehicle will serve the express.cat line e3 (which links Tortosa, Amposta, La Ràpita and Alcanar) and the regular line L1011 (which links Tortosa, Santa Bárbara, Godall, La Galera and La Sènia).
The bus is an IVECO Crossway, acquired by the operator HIFE. It has a length of about 13 meters and has 63 seats for passengers. The tank has a capacity for 1,260 liters of natural gas.
