The President of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, held a meeting with Cepsa representatives to learn about the project for the Tosca vessel, the first chemical tanker that will run on fuel oil and LNG, as part of the company’s sustainability program to reduce the footprint of carbon in shipping. Currently, this vessel runs only on fuel oil.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Supply Chain and Purchasing of Cepsa Química Elena Alcalde, the Director of the Cepsa chemical plant in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) Esther González, and the Director of Cepsa’s La Rábida Energy Park Jorge Acitores. On behalf of the Port of Huelva, the Director Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio attended.
The Tosca vessel transports liquid bulk between the ports of Huelva and Cartagena six times a month.
The Port of Huelva showed a maximum collaboration with the project, since it is also part of the strategies of the port, focused on environmental integration and the consolidation and development of traditional traffic such as the growth of liquid bulk and the development of LNG.
