IVECO has delivered another 15 IVECO S-WAY LNG trucks to Spezzano Trasporti, a transport and logistics company with a strong focus on the environment. The new vehicles, equipped with a 460 HP Cursor 13 engine, will be powered by biomethane and used for the transport of food at controlled temperatures throughout the Italian and European territory.
During the delivery ceremony, held at the Buccinasco headquarters of the IVECO Milano Industrial dealership, Spezzano Trasporti and IVECO held a round table, which had biomethane as its central theme, whose adoption allows a reduction of over 121% of CO2, as demonstrated by a study prepared by the CNR, promoted by the CIB (Italian Biogas Consortium). Biomethane is the only technology capable of achieving carbon negativity with a range of 1,600 km, a refueling capacity comparable to diesel and a higher payload.
Specifically, taking into account the kilometers traveled by Spezzano’s IVECO S-WAY LNG vehicles (including the new 15 units) over the course of a year, when running on bio-LNG, they achieve carbon neutrality, reducing over 2,400 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent absorbed by over 160,000 trees.
“Spezzano Trasporti’s investments have always been focused on the environment, as our company is moving in the direction of ecological transition, through the choice of sustainable vehicles such as IVECO S-WAY LNG trucks fueled by biomethane, which guarantee a substantial reduction in emissions in order to make the route and our fleet sustainable. In line with a business model focused on respect for the community, we hope to contribute to the social and environmental good,” said Antonella Mangano of Spezzano Trasporti.
“Spezzano Trasporti confirms and renews its commitment to sustainability. In fact, the company chose the first natural gas-powered vehicles in 2019 and today has 88 IVECO S-WAYs in its fleet, recognition in our brand and in compliance with a long-standing partnership, which has given life to an investment that is not only economic, but also social,” said Fabrizio Buffa, Manager of Medium- and Heavy-Duty, IVECO Italy. “We are proud to deliver another 15 IVECO S-WAY LNGs, which through the use of biomethane and thanks to optimized aerodynamics ensure further emission savings.”
The heavy trucks tow semi-trailers equipped with latest generation isothermal bodies, equipped with highly innovative insulation for constant temperature monitoring and the guarantee of maintaining the properties of the transported goods in full compliance with the cold chain.
Furthermore, the LNG-powered IVECO S-WAYs are the ideal solution for a sustainable transport world, thanks to fuel consumption in line with European requirements for decarbonization, together with the best acoustic comfort inside the cab. The vehicles are in fact designed to optimize the driving experience and guarantee an autonomy capable of satisfying any type of mission.
