Most Recology collection trucks now operate on renewable natural gas and renewable diesel. By shifting to cleaner fuels and optimizing collection routes, the company reduced fleet emissions by 44% in three years (2019-2022). Its transition away from conventional fossil fuels began in the early 1990s, when the company started using CNG and LNG in its vehicles.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reported that, through Bill 4482/2022-PE, the government is considering allocating, via supplementary credit, S/ 350 million (USD 92 million) to finance the execution of programs that encourage the widespread use of natural gas both in homes and in economic activities and social support institutions.
UltraTech is making strides in its commitment to decarbonization of its operations with this second deployment of GreenLine’s LNG vehicles, after the first deployment at its Awarpur Cement Works near Nagpur. The use of these LNG trucks, manufactured by Blue Energy Motors, is a significant step towards achieving the company’s sustainability targets.
