AIRA has just learned about the strategy followed by the Finnish dairy sector to reduce its emissions and promote the circular economy through biomethane, among other measures. Two VALIO cooperative’s farms were visited, which use biomethane produced mainly from manure and farm waste to generate bio-CNG for use in vehicles.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced $2.9 million in grant funding. The new Driving PA Forward Truck and Bus Fleet Grant-funded projects will take 42 old diesel trucks and buses off the road, replacing them with electric, CNG and LPG vehicles. These are located in high-population areas with dense traffic and high air pollution levels.
The companies plan to build a bio-LNG liquefaction plant on the site of a biogas plant in the Nuremberg region. The biomethane will be made available to customers in the transport sector. About 700 tons of biofuel will be produced each year. This means that around 2,800 vehicles can be refueled in a few minutes with a 250 kilogram tank filling.
