The European Commission and industry leaders, committed to the green energy transition, have launched the Biomethane Industrial Partnership. This new public-private partnership was announced in the REPowerEU Plan and it aims to support the achievement of the target to increase annual production and use of biomethane to 35 billion cubic meters by 2030.
This is the first of 19 filling stations part of an agreement between Clean Energy and Amazon; the remaining facilities should be operational by the end of the year, expanding Clean Energy’s network of 550 stations. By dispensing 700,000 gallons of bio-CNG annually instead of diesel, the station will reduce carbon emissions by 6,848 metric tons.
The initiative seeks to advance with the energy transition in all modes of transport, both for passengers and cargo transport, as well as for private vehicles. To implement a roadmap for 2030, the plan covers the development of actions with three main programs, including the renovation and adaptation of fleets towards natural gas, in the first instance.
