The facility, located in northeast England, can refuel 500 heavy goods vehicles per day and, when fully utilized, will cut 67,500 t/yr of GHG emissions, equivalent to the annual emissions of more than 40,000 cars. Aldi, UK’s fifth-largest supermarket, is the latest major brand to adopt bio-CNG trucks and is among many other household brands to use the new station.
The 14 vehicles with fuel cell propulsion belong to Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG). LNVG had already started looking for alternatives to diesel trains in 2012 and thus provided momentum for the development of the trains in Germany. Other project partners are the Elbe-Weser railways and transport company (evb) and Linde.
The grant awards – made under FTA’s Buses and Bus Facilities and Low- and No-Emission Vehicle programs – are FTA’s first competitive grant selections under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The programs support the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to expand the nation’s transportation infrastructure, create and maintain good-paying jobs, and fight climate change.
The companies plan to leverage their complementary alternative fuel capabilities and pursue business opportunities together which can lower net fuel costs and reduce carbon emissions for their customers. Galileo’s equipment can enable the monetization of natural gas from any source by converting it into low carbon renewable natural gas, CNG or LNG.
Through thorough R&D, the AVTR UF3522 has been validated to work on optimal capacity for the Indian operating conditions. The truck also provides an option of double LNG tank, providing highest ever mileage of 1500 plus kilometers in a single fill, and can be further expanded for multiple purposes and applications ranging from 19 ton to 42 ton.
