IVECO has delivered 40 S-WAY LNG trucks to Smet Group, a leading company in logistics and freight transport in Italy and Europe. The delivery ceremony, which took place in Turin at a bio-LNG filling station in Strada Cascinette (the result of a collaboration of IVECO, Engie and Vulcangas), confirms a historic collaboration that has led over the years to the creation of a large fleet of IVECO vehicles, renewed each year with as many supplies. The new vehicles will be used for Smet’s intermodal transport.
The IVECO S-WAY LNG, model AS440S46T/P 2 LNG, are 4×2 tractors, with 3,800 mm wheelbase, configured with 460 HP Cursor 13 engine, AS high roof cab to optimize livability inside the vehicle, HI-TRONIX gearbox from 12 gears and rear air suspension. Specifically, the supply of the 40 IVECO S-WAY LNG trucks includes two batches of 20 vehicles each.
“Ours is a path that tends towards zero emissions through intermodality, which, combined with vehicles and low-impact traction environment, such as the biogas vehicles of which these 40 new IVECO S-WAY LNG are part, can finally define a new paradigm in transport in terms of sustainability,” said Domenico De Rosa, CEO of Smet Group.
During the delivery ceremony, Fabrizio Buffa, Head of Medium and Heavy Range IVECO Italy, highlighted the strategic role of the transport operators committed together with the brand in the common goal of sustainable transport. “The collaboration with Smet Group and with Mecar allowed a start when there was no talk of sustainability; today we are delivering 40 latest generation IVECO S-WAY LNGs, demonstrating that investment and use in biofuels is absolutely a reality and is a possible reality,” he said.
Smet Group is one of the most important European players in the integrated logistics sector. The Group, which has a 100% IVECO fleet, is committed to the search for increasingly innovative solutions, based on solid know-how built over time.
The supply was carried out by Mecar, the IVECO dealer for the Salerno, Avellino, Potenza and Calabria areas.
