During one of the panels of the 2nd Sustainable Transport Forum organized by Scania Argentina, Marcelo Núñez, Director of Gas at YPF, detailed the gigantic project on which the state-owned company is working, which includes the construction of five trunk corridors to supply CNG fast refueling to heavy vehicles.
The project, led by CMP and Engie Chile, contemplates the modification of two 220-ton mining extraction trucks (CAEX), in a period of six months, from the diesel system to a dual fuel system, which will mostly be operated with natural gas. The pilot will be carried out at CMP’s Los Colorados Mine located in the Atacama region.
The 170G21 bus was presented at an event held at the Iveco plant located in the province of Córdoba, within the framework of the Sustainable Mobility Week. It is designed for short and medium-distance urban and interurban transport, a segment where the bus market in Argentina is currently concentrated.
The 13-liter engines offer 420 and 460 hp and between them they cover most of the high-power demand of the European truck market, including long-haul vehicles. The interest for locally produced biomethane for trucks is rapidly increasing, stimulated by the ambition to decarbonize road transport and abandon fossil fuels.
The motivations behind this collaboration entail supporting Western Canadian companies in the reduction of their fuel costs and their emissions, including GHG, while filling the gap in the transition to zero-emission vehicles. ICOM’s target client base includes mining, energy, transportation and service companies, as well as mills, municipalities and transit systems.
The company partnered with Gulf Coast-based Jetco, which invested in four CNG trucks from the Freightliner brand to be operated in conjunction with Bolloré in Texas. Through its CSR Program “Powering Sustainable Logistics”, the company aims at providing eco-friendly supply chain solutions for its customers.

Chantiers de l’Atlantique has chosen Gasum as expert supplier of LNG bunker fuel and technical adviser to perform the initial bunkering of the first LNG-powered cruise vessel built in its premises. This delivery marks a new milestone in the extension of the Gasum bunkering network and underlines its ambition to grow geographically.
With this result, the General Director of the EEC-GNV Karina Villacorta Murguía ratifies the commitment that the institution has through the benefits that the conversion to CNG grants to Bolivian transport. Since May 2022, the EEC-GNV implemented 5th generation equipment, providing care and maintaining the power of the vehicles converted with this technology.
