The EMT Burgos has opted for five Urbino CNG buses: three of them are 12-meter Urbino 12 CNG, while the remaining two are articulated Urbino 18 CNG. In addition, Martorell has chosen two state-of-the-art Urbino 8.9 LE electric. Solaris has been present in Spain since 2010. Today, over 500 Solaris buses are being driven through Spanish cities.

Endesa continues with the installation work of its LNG supply plant at the Los Barrios port terminal (Cadiz), as part of its energy transition and decarbonization strategy to reduce emissions into the atmosphere, and has received four storage tanks. The new facility will produce biomethane with agricultural waste from local farms and supply Vulcangas. The bio-LNG will be used to fuel the NGVs in GLS Italy’s fleet, which includes IVECO S-WAY LNG trucks. Biomethane is currently the only mature technology that provides a solution with no compromise on performance and refueling times compared to diesel.

The new facility, located in the Ñuble region, will have a capacity to process between 7,500 and 16,500 m3 of biogas per day. This will allow to reduce more than 19,000 tons of CO2 per year, 96% of fine particle emissions and 85% of nitrogen oxide and sulfur emissions in the heavy transport sector, compared to other fuels.

NGV America and RNG Coalition announced that 98% of all on-road fuel used in NGVs in California in 2021 was renewable natural gas. According to data from the CARB, the annual average carbon intensity score of bio-CNG in that mix was -44.4 gCO2e/MJ. Biomethane use as a transportation fuel in the state grew 163% over the last five years.

With these new trucks, Medellín already has 42 of the plan of 62 CNG vehicles expected to enter service this year and that will allow the city to go from two to three days of waste collection starting in 2023.

This will contribute to increasing the number of beneficiaries from the initiative, maximizing the efforts of green transformation and enabling citizens to own new NGVs instead of cars that are more than 20 years old. As many as 23,730 vehicles have been allocated and more than 23,447 old cars have been scrapped as part of the project.
