EBA applauds the European Parliament for recognizing biomethane as a renewable fuel and its potential to blend with and replace fossil fuels in both the AFIR and FuelEU Maritime Reports. Still, they missed the opportunity to give a strong positive signal to the biomethane value chain by setting maximum distance-based targets also for the biomethane compatible refueling infrastructure.

Brazil: BNDES finances biogas production plant, will supply transport and industry

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development will finance the construction of a biogas and electricity plant from biodegradable waste. CRI GEO Biogás is building the plant in the State of São Paulo. The biomethane produced will replace the diesel consumed by CRI GEO Biogás fleet, in addition to being marketed to industries that currently use fossil fuels.
