Scania México wants to work on the environmental impact of the vehicles they market. Its commitment is to use fuels that are eco-friendly while reaching its closest goal: electrification. That is why they presented an LNG-powered tractor in the country, the Scania G410 LNG. Énestas has already acquired the first vehicles with this technology.
The Ministry of Transportation signed a collaboration agreement with the U.S. company Optifuel Systems LLC to develop a pilot project to put into operation low-emission locomotives 100% powered by natural gas, in line with the country’s decarbonization goals.
Transporte CDC expanded its fleet with brand-new Scania trucks, four of which are CNG-powered. The decision was made with the aim of increasing the sustainability and efficiency of daily operation. The company makes trips with refrigerated and parcels trucks on routes to Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, as well as national traffic routes on the NOA Route and Cuyo.
The production and logistics infrastructure facility, in North Las Vegas, aims to supply the growing needs for hydrogen mobility, but will also allow to provide hydrogen to a wide array of industries while the mobility market continues to mature. It marks a $250 million investment by Air Liquide in the United States hydrogen market.
Aemetis, Inc. and Pacific Gas and Electric Company celebrated a renewable natural gas project milestone at a ribbon cutting ceremony held at the Aemetis Advanced Fuels facility in Keyes, California. The event featured the commissioning of the company’s dairy biomethane cleanup and compression unit and interconnection with PG&E’s gas pipeline for the Aemetis Biogas Central Dairy Digester Project.
Chevron U.S.A. Inc. will supply fuel linked to renewable natural gas for a Walmart Inc. demonstration of Cummins Inc.’s new 15-liter natural gas engine for heavy-duty trucks. Walmart will field-test the trucks at its distribution center in Fontana, California. Chevron has partnerships with Brightmark and California Bioenergy to produce biomethane from dairy farms.c
Pilot Company announced a new CNG and hydrogen delivery platform. This expansion includes a partnership with VoltaGrid LLC to develop a low-carbon fuels network that contributes to reduced emissions and decarbonization for third-party customers in industries like water disposal, dual-fuel applications, water heating operations, and natural disaster response.
The number of hydrogen vehicles in service globally will exceed one million in 2027, from just over 60,000 in 2022 – a substantial growth of over 1,500%. The Juniper Research’s study identified hydrogen-powered vehicles as an increasingly viable alternative to battery electric vehicles.
The latest PCTC, to be named Auto Achieve, will further contribute to reduced emissions for the environmentally focused ro-ro carrier in the European shortsea trade. UECC will have a total of five eco-friendly vessels – over 50% of its owned fleet of nine PCTCs – when the third and final newbuild in the series is delivered later this year.
In the second half of this decade, Volvo Trucks plans to add a new CO2-neutral option to its product portfolio – fuel cell trucks powered by hydrogen. It has already started to test vehicles with this technology. Customer pilots will start in a few years from now and commercialization is planned for the latter part of this decade.
